Rules

Season Duration

  • The regular season runs from May 1st through Playoff Weekend.

Match Scheduling

  • Matches may be played in any order.

Entry Fees & Payouts

  • The total prize pool will be distributed as follows:
  • The loser of the 5th vs. 6th place match will pay an additional $200, which will be awarded to the 3rd place team.

Course Selection

  • If teams cannot mutually agree on a course, the higher-ranked team in the standings will choose the course.

Pace of Play

  • Local course rules regarding pace of play are in effect at all times.

Handicaps

  • All players must maintain a valid handicap.
  • In the absence of an official handicap, one will be assigned by the “Handi-cap-tain” (Blair Mooney).
  • Players are encouraged to use the Golf Canada App to maintain their handicap by recording both league and non-league scores.
  • As a free alternative, The Grint is recommended.

Handicap Adjustments

  • Players will receive their full handicaps, with the lowest handicap player in the match playing to zero.
  • The lowest handicap player is responsible for keeping the official scorecard.

League Format

  • Teams consist of two players and will compete in a best-ball match play format each week.
  • Scoring System:
    • 1 Point – Front Nine
    • 1 Point – Back Nine
    • 1 Point – Overall Match
      (Maximum 3 points per match)

Substitutions

  • Substitutes are discouraged but permitted with opponent consent.
  • All substitute players must have a valid and verifiable handicap.

Tiebreakers

  • In the event of a tie in overall season standings:
    1. Head-to-head result will determine the higher-ranked team.
    2. If still tied, the winner of the back nine from the head-to-head match will be ranked higher.

Playoffs

  • The top 4 teams advance to the playoffs.
    • Semifinal Matchups:
      • 1st Place vs. 4th Place
      • 2nd Place vs. 3rd Place
    • 5th Place vs. 6th Place will play a consolation match.
      • The loser of this match will pay $200 to the 3rd place team.

Rules Oversight

  • Blair Mooney serves as the Rules Liaison and Handicap Administrator (“Handi-cap-tain”).
  • For all disputes or handicap clarifications, Blair is the final authority.

Golf Etiquette

  • The Rules of Golf as defined by the governing bodies are in effect for all matches.
  • Side games, wagers, and additional friendly competition are welcomed and encouraged, provided they are agreed upon by all participants.
